One time I realized my opinion about food was based on a stereotype was when I thought sushi would taste bad because it contains raw fish. I believed this because I was not used to eating raw fish, and it seemed weird to me. I thought I would not like it without even trying it and just from looking at it. My perspective changed when I learned that sushi comes in different types and can include rice, vegetables, cooked seafood, or raw fish and realized that not all sushi is the same. Learning more about it helped me understand that sushi is an important part of Japanese culture. This experience taught me not to judge food before trying it or learning about it. I learned that people have different foods and traditions depending on their culture.
